Digital Creator Programme

S3 pupils from our Creative Thinking and Business class have recently taken part in an engaging Digital Creator Programme delivered by DLR Media and Aquarius Creative. The pupils learned how social media and digital creation now form one of the fastest-growing global industries, worth billions of pounds and influencing how businesses in every sector connect with their customers. Skills in storytelling, filming, and online engagement are no longer just for professional influencers - they are valued in marketing, design, technology, engineering, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.

The programme helped our young people explore this digital economy responsibly and safely. It showed them how to turn personal interests - from fixing a car or baking to playing chess or travelling - into powerful examples of creativity and problem-solving that might not appear on a traditional CV. The day supported wellbeing, safe online practice, creativity, and employability aligned with The Curriculum for Excellence.

Our young people gained an understanding of how digital skills link to future careers across industries including sport, gaming, fashion, science and technology, giving pupils a safe and inspiring insight into turning their interests into positive, purposeful content. Pupils learned that content creation is a genuine career pathway, shaping how businesses of all kinds promote themselves and reach new audiences. Our pupils learned online content doesn’t always show the full picture, and that safety and mental health must always come first.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026

Visit to the New Sidey Academy

As part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, a group of our pupils were invited to attend the official opening of the brand‑new Sidey Academy. This exciting opportunity gave our young people the chance to get hands‑on experience and explore what a future career in the industry could look like.

During the visit, pupils were given a guided tour of the academy’s facilities and were able to try out a range of practical activities. Our pupils were split into groups, one group worked through a full window fitting simulation while the other group stripped back all the components of a fully glazed window before reassembling it from scratch. These activities were led by current Sidey apprentices which created a relaxed relatable learning environment.  Our young people really enjoyed speaking with them, especially knowing that only a few years ago a few of these apprentices were in the same position they are now.

The Sidey staff shared their own career journeys and offered valuable insight into the apprenticeship pathways available. Our pupils represented the school brilliantly and came away inspired by the possibilities that apprenticeships can offer.
